CONSIDERING BECOMING PREGNANT?
Think about removing your dental amalgams BEFORE your
pregnancy in order to protect your baby against the ill effects of mercury
The governments of Canada, France, Great-Britain, Sweden,
Germany and California have issued warnings concerning the use of mercury dental
fillings in pregnant women. The objective of these guidelines is to prevent
exposure of the fetus to the mercury from the mother’s dental amalgams and are
based on scientific evidence obtained in the last ten years.
Scientific research has demonstrated
that:
Mercury from the pregnant mother’s dental amalgams is
transferred and concentrates in the tissues of the fetus.
Prenatal exposure to mercury, including mercury vapour,
causes damage to the fetus.
Research has also demonstrated that this mercury, in
quantities up to now considered as ‘’safe’’, may also cause:
Adverse effects on spontaneous motor activity and
a reduced ability to adapt.
An alteration of Nerve Growth Factor and its
receptors in the fetal brain.
Alterations in both spontaneous and learned behaviours.
Adverse effects on motor function, language and
memory.
Long term behavioural changes and harmful effects
on learning ability.
Worse effects when the fetus is exposed to
lead
as well as mercury.
The fact of placing, removing or even cleaning amalgams
during pregnancy constitutes an important risk to the fetus. These treatments
are only recommended under very special circumstances and with great precautions
during pregnancy.
If you are considering conceiving a child, please have
your amalgams replaced safely by a dentist who will take all the
precautions to prevent you and your child from absorbing the toxic vapours
emitted during drilling procedures - BEFORE becoming pregnant - for the sake of
your baby's health.
